29 NORTH WACKER

Chicago, Illinois
Office Building, Exterior Remodel
10 stories

The existing white marble cladding on the mid-century office building located at 29 North Wacker Drive in downtown Chicago was starting to pit and decay after withstanding decades of harsh weather conditions.  In order to modernize the look of the building, a new façade system composed of flamed and polished granite and new aluminum panels was designed to be attached to the original underlying structure.  In order to add depth to the façade, an extruded aluminum grill system was also applied.  The existing glazing remained in place, in order to keep the building operational during construction.  The modernization of the building also included a new entrance canopy, updated lobby design, new retail storefronts, and upgraded accessibility features throughout.
