The Casa Alta Residence site is located on top of Soledad Mountain in La Jolla, California, and enjoys spectacular panoramic views up the Southern California coastline.  The goal of the project was to provide the clients with a beautiful, modern home that could accommodate their large family and need for entertaining spaces, while capturing those coastline views from every living space on every level.  In addition, the design had to respond to the challenging site that contained Steep Hillsides and environmentally and biologically sensitive lands.  The entry level of the home contains a large kitchen and open-concept living and dining spaces.  A series of sliding glass doors open the spaces up to the expansive deck which faces the view and provides indoor/outdoor living and gathering spaces.  The middle level contains a large master suite and children's suites, each with their own walk-in closet and private bathroom.  The ground floor contains a guest room, office, wine storage, and family room which opens out to the exterior patio and provides direct access to the lap pool and waterfall edge spa.  A combination of white stucco, limestone cladding, and extensive glazing emphasize the clean, modern lines of the design.
