INTERCONTINENTAL HOTEL SEOUL
Seoul, Korea
Hotel, New Construction
30 stories, 667 hotel rooms
The Intercontinental Hotel Seoul was added as part of the Korean World Trade Center expansion project. The 667 key hotel needed to accommodate the newly expanded adjacent convention center while, at the same time, remain respectful to the historically significant burial grounds located nearby. Care was taken in the building and site design to prevent the guest rooms from facing the burial site directly, out of respect and custom. The thirty-story tower is clad in a combination of glass and aluminum panels. The building includes meeting spaces which serve as an extension of the convention center, ballrooms, restaurants with both eastern and western cuisines, a large swimming pool, and a helipad.
