TANDEM DIABETES CARE BOISE OFFICES

Boise, Idaho

Tenant Improvement

Tandem Diabetes Care’s new offices in Boise, Idaho are an excellent example of adaptive reuse. Originally constructed in 1965 as a Kmart, the existing building has been transformed into a modern, open office facility, complete with all of the latest amenities.

Studio Varone Architecture focused on breaking down the scale of the large, single-story building by creating a variety of vignettes within the interior space. Innovative space planning techniques define areas based on teams and usage, while framed openings and interior glass storefronts maintain a visual connection to the whole.

Raising the ceiling height improved the proportions and feeling of the space. Suspended light fixtures and felt clouds over specific furniture groupings provide wayfinding throughout the space and add texture and dimension to the ceiling plane. The color palette of the finish materials and furniture was inspired by the surrounding landscape, including the nearby Boise River.

Together, all of these elements combine to achieve the project goal of creating a welcoming and productive environment for Tandem Diabetes Care’s employees and guests.
